Jeff's
interest in music began at a very early age, as part of a very musical
family. In his early teens he learned to play the guitar and sing the songs
of Ireland and Scotland. His love for the traditional music of his Irish
heritage from counties Cork and Donegal, and the surrounding rugged country
of the English/Scottish borders, was born.
He
later founded and operated Carlisle Folk Club and many of the top touring
Celtic performers of the day from Ireland and Scotland sang and played
there. Jeff worked as both MC and support artist to these great talents,
but soon built a repertoire and a reputation as fine artist in his own
right
He
has made several guest appearances on local radio shows in Wisconsin, Illinois
and Indiana and performed musical segments for the Irish TV Journal and
Media One "The Scene" cable television stations. Jeff has performed for
audiences at major Irish Music Festivals in Milwaukee (Irish Fest 6 consecutive
years), Chicago, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Peoria, West Dundee, Dixon and
at Concerts and Pub venues throughout the mid-west, creating an atmosphere
of warmth, laughter and good cheer, leaving audiences shouting for more.
Now,
a seasoned performer, Jeff's music today represents traditional and contemporary
songs from Ireland, Scotland, and America, singing a nice mix of songs
that suit most peoples tastes, from the beautiful ballads to the hand clapping,
sing along, foot stomping chorus songs, so characteristic of Celtic music.
In
2000, Jeff added keyboard/synthesizer along with bohdran, djembe and percussion
to the stage lineup to form "the JEFF WARD band". This additional music
talent has added a wider dimension and depth to the songs he sings so well.
Jeff's
first CD "Mair Land......Less Weight" was released in June 1998,
followed by "Here and Now" in July of 2000. The live CD, "and she
was......," features 20 of the most popular sing-along pub-songs.
The band's lastest CD "Under the Covers" was
released in March
2004. Plans for a new CD are being put together for release in the spring
of 2006.
